Leah Brown, MD, is a gifted orthopaedic surgeon serving men, women, and children at Urgently Ortho in Scottsdale, Arizona. Dr. Brown works alongside a team of amiable health professionals to treat a range of orthopaedic and musculoskeletal complications.

Dr. Brown received her Bachelor of Science in genetics from the University of Georgia, where she was a 14-time NCAA All-American, a two-time NCAA National Gymnastics Champion, and inducted into the Circle of Honor at the University of Georgia in 2016. She earned her Doctor of Medicine at the Ohio State University and completed an internship in general surgery from the Naval Medical Center San Diego.

For two years, Dr. Brown served as a battalion surgeon (general medical officer) at the Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton in southern California, before being deployed to Iraq where she served as a Medical Aid Station Director during Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2006.

After returning from Iraq, Dr. Brown finished a four-year residency with the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at the Naval Medical Center San Diego and went on to join the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery as an Orthopaedic Surgeon. She held a similar position at the Naval Hospital Bremerton in Washington.

An ardent traveler and compassionate physician, Dr. Brown was deployed to Afghanistan to serve as the Orthopaedic Surgery Department Head as part of Operation Enduring Freedom in 2012.

Dr. Brown obtained her orthopaedic sports medicine fellowship at OrthoCarolina in North Carolina where she was the respected assistant team physician for the 2016 National Football Conference Champions, the Carolina Panthers, and the athletic departments for the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and the Davidson College in North Carolina. She was the team Orthopaedic Surgeon for Phoenix Mercury and an official orthopaedic consultant for the Tempe Union High School district.

Recognized for her humanitarian efforts and her hard work and commitment to the military, medical field, and general public, Dr. Brown is the recipient of nine military awards and honors, including the Bronze Star and the Navy Commendation Medal. She continues to serve the military and her country as a Navy Reservist.

Since 2013, Dr. Brown has worked as an orthopaedic surgeon independently and for the U.S. Navy Reserves. She’s a fellow of the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery, the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine, and the Arthroscopy Association of North America.

Dr. Brown offers urgent care, and nonsurgical and surgical services. She merges her extensive knowledge with cutting-edge technology to perform a number of orthopaedic surgeries, including shoulder arthroscopic procedures, arthroscopic knee surgery, and elbow tendon and ligament repair.
